Recognition of Prior Learning Specialist

Heidi Gorell-Hay is passionate about helping others to achieve their dreams and reach their full potential. She established Mirror Professional Development in 2011 to do exactly that.

Some people study because they want to learn new skills, and others study because they want a qualification – the “piece of paper”. While there are a range of options available for people to learn new skills, there are very few options available for people who want their current skills and knowledge assessed and recognised.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is exactly the solution for many people. However, some are not aware that it is available, or those who have looked into often find the process long and complicated.

With experience training and assessing hundreds of people in business qualifications, Heidi has been able to cut through the confusion of RPL to make it very quick and easy. With such a unique perspective, she decided that Mirror Professional Development would specialise in RPL.

And clients love it. They often can’t believe just how easy it is to have their experience recognised with a formal qualification. Other training organisations often prefer to steer away students away from RPL and into training, which is why it ends up being easier to study than RPL. This isn’t what RPL is supposed to be about. Instead imagine that the assessment for your course is exactly what you did yesterday, last week, and last month. You have already done it! You just need to have your work assessed. Because the process is so easy, RPL kits are now available for other RTO’s to do their own RPL assessments.

Qualifications available are Certificate IV and Diploma in business, business adminstration and management. Mirror Professional Development awards qualifications in partnership with two registered training organisations: Seed Skills RTO ID 31579 and SmartLearn Training and Development RTO ID 31386. The qualifications you receive are exactly the same as those issued by TAFE or any other registered training organisation, and are nationally recognised.
